WHY DO YOU NEED A CERTIFICATE?

The Victorian Government has introduced new legislation to make the registration of swimming pools and spas mandatory. From Dec 1 2019, all swimming pools and spas in Victoria need to be registered with the local council the pool or spa is located in. The council will then check registrations with existing records, determine which Australian Standard the pool or spa falls under based on its build date and then enter it into a register to be inspected for compliance. A licensed inspector must then complete a registered inspection and a certificate of compliance must then be lodged with your relevant local council.

This is where we come in! As a licensed provider we can complete barrier inspections on existing pools, pre-purchase inspections and on-site advice consultations; ultimately providing you with a detailed report of everything you need to put in place for your barrier to ensure compliance.

The VBA’s pool and spa safety barrier self-assessment checklists are also helpful in preparing for an inspection. These can be downloaded below:

CHECKLIST 1

(FOR POOLS AND SPAS INSTALLED BEFORE 8 APRIL 1991)

CHECKLIST 2

(FOR POOLS AND SPAS INSTALLED BETWEEN 8 APRIL 1991 AND 30 APRIL 2010)

CHECKLIST 3

(FOR POOLS AND SPAS INSTALLED FROM 1 MAY 2010)

POOL & SPA SAFETY BARRIER INSPECTIONS

We will complete a comprehensive inspection of your barrier against the relevant Australian Standard. A certificate of compliance (Form 23) will be issued for you to provide to your local council within 24 hours of your inspection if your Pool or Spa barrier is compliant with Victoria’s regulations on pool fencing. We also provide a detailed report highlighting any issues that require rectification if the barrier does not meet the relevant standard.

ON-SITE ADVICE CONSULTATIONS

Doors, windows, gates, hardware, vegetation, climbable trees, barrier heights and types can all impact compliance. These consultations are a great option if you are looking to renovate your pool area to ensure that any works completed are in line with the relevant Australian standard of your barrier! We will attend your pool or spa, review your barrier and provide a detailed report on any compliance issues identified.
